Florida homeowners need surveillance systems designed for the realities of coastal living, including severe thunderstorms, hurricanes, power interruptions, and unreliable internet connections.

IC Bunker’s Gateway processes supported intelligence functions locally, reducing dependence on a continuous cloud connection. However, the exact functions available during an internet outage, including recording, search, notifications, and remote access, depend on the system’s configuration and should be verified.

An internet outage generally affects remote camera viewing. A power outage presents a different challenge because cameras, network switches, recording equipment, and the Gateway all require electricity.

Definitive Electronics can design supporting infrastructure that may include:

• Battery backup for critical surveillance and networking equipment.
• UPS protection for cameras, network switches, and recording hardware.
• Integration with appropriately designed generator or whole-home backup power systems.
• Weather-resistant cameras and professionally protected exterior connections.
• Network equipment and infrastructure positioned with Florida storm conditions in mind.

Backup runtime depends on the equipment’s electrical load, battery capacity, and available power sources. No surveillance system can guarantee uninterrupted operation if equipment is physically damaged or all supporting power and communication connections are lost.

Definitive Electronics can help homeowners plan a more resilient surveillance system as part of a broader home security and power protection strategy. Get a quote.
