Intelligent Hembar Alignment (IHA) is Lutron’s motor control technology that monitors and corrects hembar position throughout the shade’s travel, ensuring that every shade in a group arrives at its target position in precise alignment. The system makes corrections more than a hundred times per second while the shade is moving, compensating for variations in fabric thickness, roller wrap diameter, and motor load. In the Triathlon line, IHA maintains alignment to within 1/8 inch. The Sivoia wood blind achieves 1/16-inch tilt alignment. Palladiom and Sivoia roller shades achieve 1/8-inch hembar alignment. The practical result is visible in a bank of windows: every shade stops at exactly the same height, creating the composed, architectural appearance that a luxury interior demands. Without IHA, motorized shades in a group drift progressively out of alignment as the fabric wraps and compresses over time.
